A MIAS-LATINA - MIAS SUMMER SCHOOL SYMPOSIUM in English language (except Friday in Spanish / Viernes en español).
In conjunction with the Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi Society UK & MIAS Education
MUSEO DE LA CIUDAD DE MURCIA
Dates: 18th (Friday), 19th (Saturday) & 20th (Sunday) October 2024
P. Beneito).
‘One of the most precious gifts of grace that [God] has given me, was that He married me to the letters of the alphabet and to all the stars, after which He caused me to hear in my breast the rending of the Pens (sarîf al-aqlâm) [in writing the destinies of beings], in the manner of musical motifs (bi-l-alhân), articulating measures of two or three [beats], according as [their rhythm] was to increase or decrease. ‘What is this rhythm (îqâ')?’ -I asked. ‘It is [poetic] hearing (al-samâ‘),’ I was answered. -‘And what relation do I have with poetry (shi'r)?’ [I said]. –It is the origin (asl) [itself, the root] of all this [resulting from the divine creative Order (al-amr)]! Poetic composition (nazm) is the immutable essence (al-jawhar al-thâbit), while prose is the derivative branch (al-far‘ al-nâbit) [i.e., ‘the resulting consequence’]! Prose [or ‘dissemination’] only appears in the world of generation, but not in the Presence of the [latent] entity (‘ayn). If this matter is verified [in deep consciousness], then [it is realised that] prose does not exist [in reality, for only poetry has true essential existence]’. Ibn Arabi, 'Introduction' to the Dîwân al-ma'ârif (trans. P. Beneito).
